Businesses looking for reliable broadband services may be wise to opt for a serviced office with an internet deal factored in, if recent suggestions are anything to go by.

Earlier this week chancellor George Osborne announced while delivering the emergency Budget that the UK needs more investment in its digital infrastructure.

However, Michael Phillips, product director of Broadbandchoices.co.uk, stated he remains a little sceptical about the government's plans to introduce superfast broadband in the UK and the benefits it is likely to have in some areas.

"I think it is fair to say that the record on government IT projects hasn't been great [with] late delivery and going over budgets on a regular basis," he said.

People in more remote areas who currently struggle just to get a broadband connection, let alone something which is fast, are unlikely to see much change, he added.

The first steps towards making changes to the UK's digital economy were set out recently by the secretary of state for culture, Olympics, media and sport Jeremy Hunt as he announced a series of proposals.
